Description

2019 Incoming Summer Semester Students (Register here ONLY if your start term is Summer 2019)

Orientation is offered as a one day session (8:30am-1:30pm). You are to select one date from the following 2 dates:

  • Session 1 - Wednesday, May 29, 2019
  • Session 2 - Thursday, May 30, 2019

Orientation is a required program for incoming Freshmen and Transfer undergraduate students (optional for parents) that helps students get ready for the start of school. At orientation, we will cover the topics that will help you prepare for and successfully navigate your first year at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University. Students taking only online classes are not required to attend. Continuing FranU students, Readmitted students who have already taken classes at FranU / Our Lady of the Lake College, or non-matriculating students are not required to attend these orientation sessions. Visiting students are invited to attend at their own discretion.

Orientation will provide new students with useful information to be a successful college student at FranU. You will learn specifics about the University’s academic requirements and all the campus resources available to you. If you have registered and need to make any class schedule changes such as adding a class or changing a section, you will be able to do this at the conclusion of orientation. If you have not met with an advisor to schedule classes, you will have the oppotunity to do so at the condo so at the end of the day.

Parents are not required to attend, but we strongly encourage parents, guardians, significant others and/or other family members to attend. So much information is new and sometimes confusing; it really helps to have at least two sets of ears.

What to bring? How to prepare?

  • Materials needed for the day will be provided.
  • Dress for orientation is casual and comfortable. We suggest you bring a light sweater in case the room temperature becomes cool. An optional student guided walking tour will be available, so wear comfortable shoes if you'd like to take a walk around and learn the layout of your campus.
  • While on campus you may obtain your student ID.
  • In order to secure your parking tag, you will need your current drivers license and your license plate number.
  • Lunch will be provided (email lynn.savoie@franu.edu if you have any special food requirements)

Orientation is conducted in the Biological Learning Research Building located at 5222 Brittany Dr., Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70808
